The Rainbow

from Beauty Must Suffer by Joshua Starmer

/

about

Young woman, young man
Young love within their hearts
They’re beautiful, they are strong
The best of life at the start
They want to marry, but they are poor
He wants to give her more
He said “wait right here, I’ll be back soon.
To find a fortune I must go”

So he left to find the rainbow’s end
He left to find the rainbow’s end, this I know

She said she only wanted him
She didn’t need any more
He wrote a letter, said “I’m getting close
This fortune’s almost real”

So I guess he’s near the rainbow’s end
I guess he’s near the rainbow’s end, this I feel

She waited for him, counting the days
The days turned into years
A tragic feeling filled her inside
She lost a love so pure

Well he must have found the rainbow’s end
He must have found the rainbow’s end, this I’m sure
